We all wait and watch. So far there have been no negative reports about the tiger relocation exercise. With two tigers in there, we can only hope for the best. I am not sure how better or safe Ranthambore Reserve is, at the moment. While everything looks fine with the experiment, we do not know what agony or fears the lonely tigers have in their new environs.

We hope and pray that life will find a way!

An interesting experiment no doubt but one feels more of a PR exercise. Does it make sense to reintroduce tigers here or is the country better off by focussing on conserving and increasing tiger population in the many parks that already have them in decent numbers. Because Sariska is fraught with dangers of poaching, population, highway traffic and is too accessible on Delhi - jaipur route>

Thanks, Soul Fire. It is indeed depressing that we would not be having much to show to our children. Even when our elders used to narrate their nature-lores of childhood and youth, we could not relate to everything. Is this our way of life. Will we, forever, be losing and adapting to losses?

Prakash: Thanks for that input. I was not aware of this relocation exercise done decades back.

It is a painful realisation that tigers are on the verge of extinction. They are almost gone. A thousand tigers Vs human population of billions, is a very cruel statistic. It was hard to write about the decline of these lovely animals which once flourished and roared in the lush jungles. We all are reponsible for its extinction, in some way or the other.

I am wondering what is the exact number of tigers we are left with. Maybe we should try to get that information soon.

Wonderful writing dear!

May the world listen to you.

Best wishes.
